Up on the roof

While walking around Cincinnati this afternoon, Todd and I happened upon an unusual scene.  Off in the distance, up high, were two men, perched on the edge of bravery and stupidity.  At first, I thought they might be guardian angels.  After seeing them a bit closer through my zoom lens, I realized that guardian angels usually don’t wear sweatpants and slippers.  And of course, they did not have wings.  Then I thought they might be shape shifters, one minute man, the other a bird.  But after thinking about their attire again, I realized they were not shape shifters either.

Regardless of the reason these two fearless or crazy (take your pick) men were up on that roof, it was an interesting sight to see.  I guess to some extent, we are all dancing that line of brave or stupid and fearless or crazy.  To think about it further, we are all on the proverbial edge. We sit atop our roofs, feeling as though we can conquer the world, not realizing that one bad move and our lives are off the roof.

Nice view.

Nice view.

What a conversation!

Brave or stupid?

Look up.

  1. Totally crazy and weird. Whatever were they thinking of? Here in UK there is a craze for running and jumping off walls roofs and buildings. maybe they were planning that! But they look so casual.

  2. Very strange and interesting. I wonder what it was they needed to discuss up on the roof. They don’t even seem phased. I’m a tad uneasy with heights, I think.

    • Yes, most of us are a bit. I have no clue what they were doing. They could be on a date, could be some sort of “you pay me or you are off the roof”, or just a couple of bored guys.

  3. We had a house with a widow’s walk once, but the railing had been taken down. We went up there quite a bit, to have champagne and potato chips. Since the lot stood up above the street, and it was a pretty tall Victorian, passersby couldn’t catch sight of us without really looking up. But when they did…haha!

  4. Personally, my vote is for dumb and drunk. This is a great post. Amazing the things you see when you look up. Thanks for dropping by and the like of my post “Hovering”.

  5. If the taller one had on a blue supehero suit (The Tick), and the shorter one had on a moth suit (Arthur), then it would be perfectly normal! hahahaha!

  6. Great punch line … “… we are all on the proverbial edge. We sit atop our roofs, feeling as though we can conquer the world, not realizing that one bad move and our lives are off the roof.”
