Journey to Luzon

I am taking a journey in a few days.  My parents have invited me to come and photograph their trip to the Philippines.  My parents are missionaries and take several trips a year to the million island nation.

I went with them once, back in 1995.  Of course, lots have changed since then.  This time, I will not be part of the mission team but solely be there to spend time with my parents and take as many photos as I can.  Also, I am almost 20 years older.  I was 22 the last time I visited.  Now I am 40.  I was still in undergrad.  Now I am a professional, albeit in between jobs.  I believe different now. (Not much different but nonetheless different.)  I had hair back then.

This will be the longest I have been apart from Todd since we’ve been together.  That’s almost 14 years.  I’ll miss him and I do wish he was able to come with me.

I will have access to internet while I am there so I will continue to post photos on my blog.  However, while I am traveling, and throughout the day, I will be posting snaps from my iPhone on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.  So please follow me, if you haven’t already.  Instagram : Seth_Snap  (If you don’t have Instagram, it’s easy and free to sign up.)  Twitter: @8373seth  Facebook:  Sethsnap

Hope to meet more wonderful people there as I did in 1995.

  1. Wow that’s impressive! My sister-in-law is from there…in Ozamis? I think that’s how you spell it. They only got running water a few years ago. Good luck and looking forward to the photos!

  2. It will be a very special trip, Seth. Going back to a place that left its mark on you after twenty years will be emotional. Leaving someone you love behind will be hard, but you will bring back many memories to share. And to us, many lovely photos, I’m sure. Bon voyage.

  3. Great story. I went with my mom back to the PI in 2011 and it was a great journey to be on with her. What an amazing country with wonderful people. I’m sure your return trip will be nothing short of interesting and memorable.
