How do the birds stay warm in this weather? I sometimes expect to see them freeze in mid-flight, come crashing down to earth and break into a thousand pieces. Yet despite my bird ice bomb visions, they are still floating about, chirping their songs.

LOVE these 🙂
Thank you. 🙂
I had the same thoughts this morning as I watched them flitting from one branch to the next…great shots!
Great minds!
They have superpowers.
I believe they do.
Especially love mrs. Cardinal. So lovely
Thank you Patty.
Nice Series, love the cardinal!
Thanks Tracy.
I meant…
I never saw a wild thing
feel sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
without ever having felt sorry for itself.
Great thought. 🙂
They look so fragile as they add a touch of colour to the landscape here. Nice work.
Thanks Val.
I would reckon that they are more grounded than we are, they may not even feel the cold, love the pic’s.. Namasté
Thank you!
They are amazing, aren’t they? Hope you are keeping warm.
Indeed. I am! Thanks Gallivanta.
Reblogged this on SherayxWeblog.

Ur very welcome, thank u.
I love the last one!
Thanks Ellen.
‘Bird ice bomb visions’ – classic!
🙂
I worry about the little birds when it gets as cold as it has been these past few days. They are amazing creatures, out in the cold and still able to sing to us.
Indeed. Thanks.
Great photos. Birds are so hard to capture. You did a beautiful job getting that sparrow (?) in flight. Really great pictures, as usual.
Thanks!
Greta set of photos Seth – especially “Don’t Jump! Wait you can Fly”
Thanks Countess.
Love number 4 “The Look”. My two favorite birds!
Cardinals look so feisty don’t they?
I put out a seed block and water for my Rosellas and other birds to snack on. I love watching them.
Thanks Olivia. I am sure they repay you with their antics to watch.
Oh, sweet things, they are so beautiful! Thank you for capturing these moments and hope they aren’t too cold!
Welcome. Thanks for your nice words.
Beautiful captures! There’s a cardinal couple who visit my yard from time to time and I wanted to keep them around because they’re not so common in NYC. I left a birdhouse out for them just in case they need shelter and I try to leave food for them. It might be tough for them since there are other birds to compete with and squirrels and cats to hide from, but I’m hoping they are warm and safe!
The cardinals are pretty tough in these parts. I am sure they will be fine. But I bet it’s fun to have them as neighbors. 🙂
Beautiful!
Thanks.
Hmnn… maybe fluffed-up feathers trap enough air to insulate them from the cold? Our feeder seem to draw traffic under all sorts of conditions…
Thanks Jack.
