Brenda, a turkey buzzard, enjoyed a nice lunch with her friend Frieda yesterday. She adores having a good meal with friends. On this particular occasion, they shared a bit of fresh deer tartare and a side of juicy gossip.

Cute!
Indeed.
Wonderful!
Thanks Ellen.
I love turkey vultures! I see them almost everyday as I drive home from work. I know they are not the loveliest birds but they have such personality and are good for the environment!
They are interesting that’s for sure. 🙂
Ain’t no messin’ with Brenda… 🙂
Brenda will smack you down. 🙂
Nice! 🙂
Thanks.

seeeppp…..n Thank you for visiting my blog Pati Batik Photography
Welcome.
Amazing photos! Did you use a telephoto lens or were you able to get pretty close?
Both. 🙂
Wonderful – the chat was super too!
🙂 Thanks.
Very funny Seth! But I have to say they are one of the ugliest creatures I’ve ever seen!
Ah but they are beautiful on the inside. 🙂 Thanks.
Interesting bird talk. Wish I could hear them myself 🙂
They are a bit grunty.
I have always wondered if the red headed vultures and the black headed vultures have any sort of “racial” issues?
Nah. They are cool.
I have a turkey vulture near my apartment and it scares the crap out of me every time I see it fly and land in the tree. It is a HUGE freaking bird! I’m always afraid it’s going to pick off my 16 pound dog.
Interesting. But, they only eat dead things and they usually stay away from carnivores. They don’t usually kill.
I did not know that!! Next time I see one I won’t be shoving my dog back in the house then. Thanks!
Great photos! And it’s wonderful to see someone posting kindly about a bird that is too often treated with disgust.
Indeed. I find them quite interesting.
Reblogged this on THE WIND-UP RAZOR CHRONICLES and commented:
I like these photos because they remind me of times I spent in the Lorane Country Cafe in Lorane, Oregon. Lorane is a small community southwest of Eugene. The Lorane Country Cafe sat (and perhaps still sits) on the west side of Territorial Road, perched on the side of a low hill overlooking a wide, shallow valley. Cattle and (if memory serves me well) sheep grazed in the valley. And buzzards circled almost constantly overhead, often landing in the pastures. There they walked heavily among one another, elderly men in black coats, heads thrust down and forward.
Hummingbird feeders hung from the eaves of the cafe, and hear at hand flitted butterflies, bright and cheerful by the windows.
I lived in Cottage Grove and Eugene for ten years, from 1987 to 1997. I haven’t been to the Lorane Country Cafe since 1996, and perhaps even before then.
Thanks for the reblog.
Great shots!! 🙂
Thank you. 🙂
Long as they don’t circle above your house. 🙂
Yes true. 🙂 Thanks David.
Charming, as usual.
Thanks. 🙂 🙂
LOL…
Pretty cool. I’m pretty fascinated with turkey vultures myself. I find them kind of spooky but I’m learning to appreciate them.
Yes me too.
I never thought I’d say this…but turkey buzzards are really beautiful!! gorgeous photos, Seth…and I love that you name your models!! Ha!
Thanks. Glad you are a fan of the Buzzards.
lol! Your captions made me laugh. I’ve missed your photos and silliness
Where have you been?
At work lol. Fathers day, i work in mens department so i was working crazy hours and getting out super late because of the mess we had to clean up. I was off this week for a few days( thats how they get you, while i worked so many hours last week we get paid bi-weekly so the lack of hours this week my check will pretty much be the same as usual) but i had appointments and alot of out of the house errands ( hubbys mri and doctors check up plus catching up on all the house chores i neglected last week). So i haven’t had it in me to post and blog much :(. I’ve been poking around wp through just not commenting and liking stuff because i was just quickly browsing through. I hope things go back to normal now and I can get back to blogging 🙂
Indeed. Hope it all slows down for you. 🙂 But I understand.
Brenda is classy
She is indeed. Thanks.
