A world above us lives in relative silence. In every city, beauty exists unnoticed and almost unseen. In Indianapolis, one can find surprises, gifts from our ancestors, if one knows where to look. Beautifully decorated buildings mingle with the sun and clouds and offer amazing finds to those who simply look up. Exotic items live in the heavens of Indiana’s capital. Here are the scenes I found. Now, it’s your turn to find your gifts. Remember, look up.
Great advice, Seth. The detail on these buildings is beautiful. 🙂
Thanks.
It’s interesting how Elegantly Alined, Blues, and More Detail can give the illusion of looking across a rooftop instead of up the side of a building. Amazing camera angels.
I can see that Charles. Thanks.
I’d love to see camera angels too!
Thanks calmgrove.
Wish I could remember a quote and its source. Referred to the clouds and went something like: “Despite the ugliness that surrounds us, all we need do is raise our eyes to rediscover the Rennaissance.” In similar fashion, to document the better preserved buildings of the 19th century is to rediscover our culture’s Rennaissance, albeit in more concrete forms.
Great quote. Thanks.
Beautiful, love the bright orange against the sky 🙂
Thanks Jennifer.
Great perspectives and topographic design – wished I could like it twice. Had fun shifting focal length while gazing and discovering new elements. Great colors, textures, contrasts, this piece has it all for me.
Thanks Chagall.
Always I look forward to visiting your site…it’s a quality of life thing.
Thanks Bonnie.
“What are you looking at?” Haha. Beautiful!
Thanks Mac.
Looking up at buildings at close hand instead of being immersed in ground level distractions is part of what I like to call ‘holiday consciousness’, the different perspectives (literally, in the case of these lovely photos) you get when you pretend you’re in a new city.
Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities captures just an approach (as I discuss here http://wp.me/s2oNj1-invisibl, if anyone’s interested).
I’m going to read it. Sounds interesting. Thanks.
This is awesome! I love the pics!
Thanks so much.

Architecture is amazing.
Yes it can be. Thanks.
Cool idea!!! Made me dizzy! lol!
Thanks Carly.
Great pictures Seth. I can just picture you lying on the ground taking these shots. That little bird looks like he might be wondering what on earth you are doing…LOL 😀
He is. I won’t tell you how I do it, I’ll leave that image of me lying on the ground for you.
From where I am standing right now…the heavens sure look different over Indianapolis.
PS I am standing under the buildings which is where you placed us all 🙂
🙂 take some pictures, let us see.
There are so many beautiful features on buildings etc when you look up. Often, we are so busy rushing from place to place that we always look down at our feet. Thank you for sharing your view.
Welcome. Thanks Amanda.
Great gallery again …. Glorious afternoon, will be my pick.
Thanks viveka.
Hahaha, I love “what are you looking at”…you seem to always find the animals Seth! It caught me off guard too cause I was intently focusing on the colors of the sky and the architecture and then all of sudden a birdie. I literally laughed aloud.
🙂 good, I like to make people laugh.
