The Great Goose Family Reunion

They come from up north, Ottawa, Toronto and Whitehorse. They bring with them green bombs, hissing and a bit of snow.  They converge each year for the Great Goose Family Reunion.  Long lost friends and family make the trek from the land of the maple leaf for a winter visit, to share a few laughs and to add new geese to the family.  Loud, social and a bit ruff around the edges, they are the Texans of the birds.  Enjoy them while they visit for soon it will be time to head back north.

  1. As beautiful as the geese are, I’ve had a few run-ins with them over the years. They’re incredibly bold creatures that have no problem attacking even you’re just trying to get across campus to your Ancient Greece class.

  2. You mention Ottawa, where I live, and guess what? I recognized George from the top photo, 3rd from the left. (sorry, really bad joke!) You share such fantastic photos with us, make us feel good inside … thanks Seth! 🙂

  3. Your pictures are so very peaceful and beautiful, Seth. Almost soft. They are almost the opposite of mine! I live in Texas, and took some pics of ducks just this weekend. Such different styles, but I think I like yours better. Keep it up! Happy snapping.

  4. Hi, I am from Northern Ontario and the return of the Canadian Geese always heralds spring time for us. It has been a long winter for us so I can’t wait to see them flying overhead with a woosh of there wings and the familar honking voices I have come to love. I love that you included some black and white photos for some reason I am always drawn to them

    • We have quite a few around these parts. I don’t remember if we had as many in Tenn/Ala/MS growing up. But they are very spirited birds. 🙂

  5. We have them here too! Those suckers bite! And steal bread for the ducks at our local parks! Beautiful! But they also have a mean side!

  6. Beautiful birds, but noisy! How in the world did you manage to capture their pictures without spooking them off — very impressive!

  7. Your pictures are wonderful and I like your description
“They bring with them green bombs, hissing and a bit of snow.”
You don’t want to walk across a lawn where they’ve just visited. The amount of green bombs left behind is astonishing!
