They come from up north, Ottawa, Toronto and Whitehorse. They bring with them green bombs, hissing and a bit of snow. They converge each year for the Great Goose Family Reunion. Long lost friends and family make the trek from the land of the maple leaf for a winter visit, to share a few laughs and to add new geese to the family. Loud, social and a bit ruff around the edges, they are the Texans of the birds. Enjoy them while they visit for soon it will be time to head back north.
What a great series of photos! I love how you captured the tiny snowflakes!
Thanks soonie.
As beautiful as the geese are, I’ve had a few run-ins with them over the years. They’re incredibly bold creatures that have no problem attacking even you’re just trying to get across campus to your Ancient Greece class.
They are a spirited group.
love the light under the tail, looks like firefly lighting! nice
Thanks TGVA.
I love your postings. You show such a great spirit.
Thanks so much Kimberly.
You mention Ottawa, where I live, and guess what? I recognized George from the top photo, 3rd from the left. (sorry, really bad joke!) You share such fantastic photos with us, make us feel good inside … thanks Seth! 🙂
Thanks. Well I’ll tell George you said hi. You want him to bring you back anything?
Yes, the sun! 🙂
Your pictures are so very peaceful and beautiful, Seth. Almost soft. They are almost the opposite of mine! I live in Texas, and took some pics of ducks just this weekend. Such different styles, but I think I like yours better. Keep it up! Happy snapping.
Thanks PK. Thanks. I like your photos. Great job.
Ahhh you shared my favorite bird!! They are sp pretty!! Cngrats on the 10,000 followers by the way!! Hugz, Lisa

Hi, I am from Northern Ontario and the return of the Canadian Geese always heralds spring time for us. It has been a long winter for us so I can’t wait to see them flying overhead with a woosh of there wings and the familar honking voices I have come to love. I love that you included some black and white photos for some reason I am always drawn to them
We have quite a few around these parts. I don’t remember if we had as many in Tenn/Ala/MS growing up. But they are very spirited birds. 🙂
Very noble looking ducks. So different to the ones here in Aus.
These are Canada Geese. So you don’t have them in Australia?
Just stunning!
Thx so much. ;;; 🙂
I am glad to of found your blog, so much so. Your pictures and captions make me smile and I am always looking forward to your next one.
Thanks. 🙂 Hope you don’t get tired of me eventually. 😉
Very doubtful
We have them here too! Those suckers bite! And steal bread for the ducks at our local parks! Beautiful! But they also have a mean side!
🙂 ornery.
A family reunion is always a refreshing time. Happy reunion geese!
Agreed. Thanks.
These are beautiful, the colours are just lovely 🙂
Thank you Jennifer.
the pictures you present always has that subtle freshness to it. Thank you for allowing me grace such lovely picture I could almost write a novel on the reunion
Thanks for your kind words.
Beautiful birds, but noisy! How in the world did you manage to capture their pictures without spooking them off — very impressive!
They are usually quite comfortable about me. Maybe I am the geese whisperer.
Your pictures are wonderful and I like your description
“They bring with them green bombs, hissing and a bit of snow.”
You don’t want to walk across a lawn where they’ve just visited. The amount of green bombs left behind is astonishing!
Very true. Thanks so much.
Reblogged this on sunnychance0207.
I love the blue dots to capture water/snow..looks like geese in a magical world!
Thanks. 🙂 I thought so too.
Hi Seth…love the black & white shots. They’re gorgeous. The coloured ones are beautiful too. Thank goodness for springtime!
Thanks Jennifer.
Why do you call geese texans of the birds? What attributes do they have in common?
They are loud, have funny accents, and are very social.
One word: Beautiful.
Thanks Adam.
I can’t pick a fav. I love them all. I love the little flecks of snow too. Stunning photos!
Thanks Tasha.
I love this picture
