Old Man Winter showed up with his entourage today. He brought with him the rain, the snow, the sleet and lots of wind. It was a welcome party like no other. It started this morning when the rain showed up to give the place a good cleaning before the party. The party began this evening when the snow and sleet started to fall like confetti. Soon the trees, grass and even shingles were dancing as the wind symphony played its winter arrival repertoire. In fact, the party is still going strong.
I was given the VIP treatment this morning for the two day long party. The rain was a gracious host. He allowed me to go behind the scenes and see just what went into getting Southern Ohio ready for the big event. The fields, streets, grass and trees were all washed clean and shined up like new. He even attempted to give me a good wash.
Come on in Winter, but don’t overstay your welcome. And please, try not to party too hard.

Seth: Great captures…winter showed up in Central Illinois yesterday…35 to 60 mile per hour winds and blizzard conditions…we got lots of wind but only about 1 inch of snow…it all blew to the south!
Yeah, we’ve gotten an inch or less. But it has been crazy windy. I took some snow pics this morning. I’ll post them tonight.

I find Seth’s awareness very organic and uncluttered … a beauty that, let me caution, isn’t really automatic. It calls for the skills of a true artist … the yogi, if you prefer !
Thanks vam.
Beautiful! What camera did you use for this? Wish you could share some of your photography techniques =)
Oh, and thanks for reading my post. I’m glad that you liked it!
I used a Nikon D3100 with a Tameron 55-330mm lens. Thanks! I am not quire sure what tips to share. But when I think of some, I’ll share. 🙂
Snow fell like confetti! Sounds Beautiful!
Thanks Jasmine. 🙂 Hopefully not too corny.

Oh today is the first official day of Winter isn’t it? I’ve been having an attitude with winter lately lol. Usually i love winter, love the cold, love the snow. Now i’m just like noooo i gotta go to work. lol.
Beautiful photos! Did you really brave the rain to take these? How dedicated! I appreciate the effort! Definitely worth it with these great photos.
Well thanks. Yes, it’s always different when you have to work. I brave all types of weather for my peeps. 😉
I really like the 7th photo…unique perspective
Thanks. It’s probably my favorite one of the bunch.
Great photos again! I love the rain ones, where you captured the drops, must have needed a pretty high shutter speed for that 🙂
Thanks for sharing!
Rohan.
Rohan. I don’t what my shutter was set on. I was cheating and had auto-non flash on. 🙂 Thanks for your nice words. Hope you are having a good end of the world day. 🙂
Haha, don’t worry I know how it is, sometimes you just want to be able to shoot without fussing. You can miss the moment if you’re too busy inputting manual settings!
Yeah you too, hehe 🙂
Rohan.
i do enjoy your writing, and I love the idea of winter partying hard ! (though of course it is christmas…) 🙂 Jane

Cindy
Cindy, Weird winter so far huh?
Seth, first time to your blog. Beautiful photos – I look forward to seeing lots more of them. Happy Holidays!
Welcome. I am glad. Hope you come back soon.
This does give a good impression of the rather rainy and windy (more fallen branches) Winter I’ve seen so far—so much rain over here, that most of any snow has been washed out.
Adam, thanks. We did get a bit of the white stuff today.
the 4th pic is my fave… the one with the rocks….
Olga. Thanks!
wow, such beautiful images!! By the way, you have been tagged in my latest blog post. Enjoy your day : )
Tana., Thanks so much. 🙂
That last one. The colour. Wow.
Thanks Dieu.
Brilliant pictures Seth! You make something as simple as a gate look incredible!! Especially the up close shot!
🙂 you are too kind.
Perhaps it’s odd of me, but I love the closeups of the fences and metal gates the best. Gorgeous shots, every one!
Thanks! I have an article coming up on just that.
