Frederick was used to the cold.  A Swiss native, he’d lived through many cold winters.  He’d hope moving to a new place would change that.  As he stood on that frozen lake, he contemplated how he’d got it wrong. It is cold in Ohio too.  Perhaps he should consider flying south in the future.  Texas in mid July should be perfect, he thought.

  1. I think I photographed Frederick’s cousin yesterday in similar circumstances. These cheerful little birds seem to be with us no matter how bad the weather gets.
